Building and Township Vastu
Building and Township Vastu
Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian architectural system that focuses on creating harmonious and balanced living spaces. If you’re planning to build a township or develop a vastu-compliant building, here are some general guidelines to consider:
Selection of Land:
- The land should be regular or square in shape, avoiding irregular or triangular plots.
- It is preferable to have the land slope towards the north or east.
- Avoid plots that have obstacles like large trees, pillars, or buildings in the north or east.

Entrance and Main Roads:
- The main entrance of the township or building should face east, north, or northeast for positive energy flow.
- Ensure that the entrance is well-lit and free from obstructions.
- The roads within the township should be planned in a way that allows for smooth traffic flow and avoids dead-ends.
Layout and Design:
- The central part of the township or building should be kept open and free from heavy structures.
- Place public amenities like parks, community halls, or temples in the northeast or center of the township.
- The south and west sides of the buildings should have taller structures, while the north and east sides should have shorter buildings.
- The kitchen should ideally be located in the southeast corner of each building.
Placement of Rooms:
- Master bedroom should be located in south west.
- Children’s rooms can be in the west, northeast or northwest depend upon there age.
- The study or office area is best located in the north or east direction.
- Avoid placing toilets or bathrooms in the northeast, center, or southwest corners of the buildings.
Use of Colors:
- Use light and soothing colors for the interior walls, as they promote positivity and create a pleasant environment.
- Avoid using dark or vibrant colors excessively, especially in bedrooms or areas that require a calm ambiance.
Ventilation and Lighting:
- Ensure proper ventilation and natural light in all rooms.
- Design windows and openings to allow maximum airflow and sunlight.
- Skylights or windows in the north and east directions can bring in beneficial energies.
Landscaping and Surroundings:
- Maintain a well-manicured and clutter-free landscape within the township.
- Plant trees and shrubs in the northeast and east sides of the buildings for positive energy.
- Avoid thorny plants or trees that cast a shadow on the building.
Remember, these guidelines are based on Vastu principles and may vary depending on the specific needs and circumstances. Consulting a professional Vastu expert or architect with experience in Vastu can provide personalized advice and guidance tailored to your project.
